The Foire aux Vins of Colmar is an annual wine festival that takes place in Colmar. This festival is a celebration of the region’s rich wine culture and a great opportunity to taste some of the finest wines produced in the area.
The festival has a rich history that dates back to 1949 when a group of local winegrowers organized the first edition. At the time, the festival was much smaller than it is today, with only a few winegrowers participating. However, it quickly gained popularity, and over the years, it has become one of the most important wine events in France.
The Foire aux Vins of Colmar takes place every year in August, and it usually lasts for ten days. The festival is held at the Parc des Expositions, a large exhibition center located on the outskirts of Colmar. The city offers a shuttle service that runs regularly during the festival, making it easy to get to and from the event. The Parc des Expositions provides plenty of space for wine tastings, food stalls, and entertainment.
The festival showcases wines from over 300 winegrowers, including some of the most prestigious wineries in the region. Visitors can taste a wide range of wines, from sparkling wines to sweet wines, and everything in between. The festival also offers a chance to discover some lesser-known grape varieties and small-scale producers.
