Alsace has the highest concentration of castles in France. With over 400 castles and fortifications, Alsace is often referred to as the “Land of Castles”. This is due in part to the region’s strategic location on the border between France and Germany, which led to centuries of conflict and the construction of numerous defensive structures.
Whether you’re a history buff, an architecture lover, or just looking for an adventure, these castles are a must-see.
Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle
Let’s start with one of the most famous castles in the region, the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle.
