If you’re planning a trip to Alsace and Colmar, or just love learning new things, then you’re in for a treat! Here are some fun facts about this charming region and town:
Statue of Liberty: Colmar is the birthplace of Frédéric Bartholdi, the sculptor who created the Statue of Liberty in New York City. You can see a replica of the statue at one of the roundabouts standing at 12 meters tall.
Manneken Pis: I bet you’ve heard of the famous Manneken Pis statue in Brussels, right? Well, did you know that Colmar has its own version of the peeing boy? That’s right, you can find a miniature version of him in the Old Town.
Driest and sunniest city: Thanks to the foehn wind effect, the city of Colmar is one of the sunniest and driest places in France!
